Anonymous said: I bet that girl who did the presentation is pretty fucking awesome.

Nah, she’s actually not that great. For example: it was her birthday yesterday and she threw a party without me.

Yea, some random girl at my school did a presentation for Dutch about that movie/book and then I thought, why not watch it!

I just ordered the book on Bol.com by the way

This is a photo taken a few days ago at the occupy Gezi demonstration in Istanbul Turkey. It started as a peaceful demonstration against the demolishment of a park to build a shopping center. But then the police used excessive force (water cannons, tear gas etc) and now there are riots all over the country. The issue has moved past just environmentalism. It’s about the recent ban on the sale of alcohol at certain times and places. It’s about the couple kissing in a subway who were reprimanded. It’s about the disturbing lack of free speech and basic human rights and the overall direction Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is taking our country Turkey. So far there have been almost no national media coverage of the riots. CNN Turk showed a documentary on penguins while CNN international showed the demonstrations. The only reliable news source is Twitter and social media. But police have placed 3G jammers and threatened to shut down social media sites to stop that too. It’s time for a change. The Turkish people won’t take this oppressive, fascist government any longer. Occupy Gezi, Occupy Taksim, Occupy Turkey. Please reblog to spread the word—
